Discovery Service¶

1. The simple fact that James and I have managed to produce a Powershell module to bolt into a wider monitoring framework using only email, Twitter and our own time is amazing! 2. Or Delivery Controller XML can be load balanced. If load balanced, then ADC monitor is of type CITRIX-XD-DDC – so ADC can detect Local Host Cache outages. Prefer separate farms per data center instead of stretched single farms (with zones) across multiple data centers.
3. The specified Citrix XML Service could not be contacted and has been temporarily removed from the list of active services. Event ID 4003, Task Category 12346: All the Citrix XML Services configured for farm Cloud Connectors failed to respond to this XML.
4. The Citrix NetScaler has a specific monitor for the XML traffic. In this monitor an actual request is send, so the service is fully checked. StoreFront doesn't do this check in advance, so using the NetScaler optimized this a bit more.

The Citrix ADC appliance has a built-in monitor type, CITRIX-XML-SERVICE, with which you can create monitors to monitor the XML Broker services. The XML Broker services are used by Citrix XenApp. The monitor opens a connection to the service and periodically probes the XML services to which it is bound.

This service is part of a particular Store. It returns a document describing the location of the endpoint services of the Store and associated authentication service plus information on the beacons and gateways that the client can use to access these services from internal or external networks (i.e. using a gateway or not as appropriate).

Note: For backwards compatibility with earlier versions of this service, the response format will be reported as application/vnd.citrix.receiver.configure unless application/vnd.citrix.discovery+xml is explicitly requested by the client via the Accepts header (provided application/citrix.receiver.configure is not also explicitly requested). Also no 406 response will be returned even if the Accepts header is not compatible with the returned content type. Use of the application/vnd.citrix.receiver.configure content-type is deprecated and support for it may be dropped in future releases.
